SUMMER 2022

Cameron Beteet

Book-worm // Music Enthusiast // Avid Reality TV Viewer

My love for content creation and writing has stayed with me since I was a child and evolved throughout the years. At the core of these interests is creativity. While my creativity has taken many different forms over the years, I’ve ultimately developed a passion for creating promotional video content and writing informational pieces. As a way to engage in my interests, I’ve had the privilege of working at an on-campus agency creating video content for clients around my university. In addition to creating videos, I’ve also participated in on-campus organizations where I regularly write articles for organizations’ blogs. I’ve furthered these interests through my studies in Media Management and Promotion as well as in the Emerging Media and Design accelerated masters program at Ball State University. Aside from my activities, I am a huge book-worm and enjoy bike rides in the spring and summertime.

Melissa narlock

Dog Lover // Traveler // Coffee Connoisseur

As a kid I found myself being passionate about caring for others and animals. I thought I was going to be a nurse or a veterinarian growing up, but I found out early on that I tend to faint at the sight of blood. So to say the least, that was not going to be my calling. I came to Ball State University to study marketing, and I have been in love with Muncie and the field ever since. The psychology and analytics behind marketing mixed with the creative and artistic side is what drew me in. I have now found my passion in helping to share stories through digital platforms. Whether it be for a business or personal account I am up for the challenge. My experience in social media at an on-campus student run agency, and love for interacting with people are what drove me to digital marketing, and to pursue a minor in Emerging Media and Design at Ball State. When I am not working on editing photos or crafting social media posts, you can find me jamming to my favorite music at festivals, or visiting a cool new coffee shop.

Audrey masters

Personal Photo Stylist // Type Critic // Retired Talent Show Yodeler

I’ve loved creating things ever since I was little. I was known for gluing any craft supplies I could find to my coloring pages, and making art that was not conventional, according to my mom. Taylor University’s Graphic Art program has since grown my interest in digital design. I have continued growing my skills in design, advertising, and visual communications. I love variety and am always excited to try out new trends in design. My favorite part of design is collaborating with a team of other talented creatives, and being able to accomplish work that represents all of our best strengths combined. I love typography and the ability to utilize visual elements to communicate beyond what the words say. The best part of any project is when every element comes together in harmony to tell a brand’s story.

SUMMER 2021

AUBREY HAYDEN

Animal Lover // Avid Concert Goer // Frequent Hiccup Haver

My love for art as a whole started when I was a child, but my love for design started in high school when I asked my friends what a “visual communications” class was. I have been working as a designer on campus at Ball State University since my very first semester freshman year, and I have also been able to experience 3 semesters in an award-winning design studio. Exploring my love for art and design allows me to make people’s visions for their brands and businesses come to life - which is incredibly rewarding. This summer at Intersection I hope to gain more real-world experience in my field and get to know what the environment is really like within an agency. When I’m not working you can likely find me hiking, listening to true crime podcasts, or watching a Twitch stream.

seth stegall

Analytics Nerd // Passionate ISFJ // Indie Music Fanatic

Ever since high school, I have had this innate passion for writing, and it wasn’t until my junior year at Ball State I realized the affinity I shared for the skill. As someone in the public relations industry writing has become one of my most valued skills as it is at the center of everything I do, whether it be writing a press release or drafting a social media post. Communications, especially in PR, is everything, and writing attributes to this. My many experiences with PR have allowed me to find a love for writing as I am able to use it in my professional life. I am still improving upon my writing, but I can say that it has come a long way from where I started. It's still early in my career, and I am excited to see where this skill takes me. Outside of my professional life, I am generally seen riding my bike around town or trying to find my next new experience in Muncie.

ABBY HINES

Over-Communicator // Branding Enthusiast // Playlist Connoisseur

From my very first Instagram “aesthetic” to my current freelance forte I knew being obsessed with making things look, feel, and sound cohesive was a passion I could eventually put into practice. It makes sense why I chose Advertising and Marketing, right? Growing as a young professional I began finding myself in leadership roles whether it be with projects in my courses at Ball State University or in various roles at work or extracurriculars. So, my quest began - how to combine my skill set and knowledge of media with my passion for leading others? This summer at Intersection I hope to find that groove, and I have no doubt that I’m right where I’m supposed to be to accomplish it! When I’m not trying to sort out my work life, you can catch me spending way too much money at Goodwill or ears-deep in crafting a new playlist at a local coffee shop.

TAMERA SIMS

Doggie Admirer // Rock Climber // Onion Ring Enthusiast

What started as a fun class to take with my friends in high school, began my journey through photography. In my yearbook class, I became a storyteller - from behind the scenes of course! As my education moved further along, I found myself analyzing every angle and aspect of photography and videography. During my time at Ball State, I realized that I have a passion for live broadcasting, but that hasn’t prevented me from learning more about other aspects of media. As an intern for Intersection, my goal is to expand my knowledge of mass media by diligently working alongside my fellow peers and teammates. Outside of work-related activities, I’m most likely taking BuzzFeed quizzes or watching social experiment videos.

ASHLEY ALLEGRETTI

Dog Fanatic // Visual Storyteller // Mother of Plants

Growing up, I was what you could call “born with a crayon in my hand”; meaning there was rarely ever time I didn’t spend drawing. Vocalization never came easy to me, but where words would fail, illustration filled the gaps, granting me an opportunity to speak volumes without saying a word. As I grew older, I wanted to find a platform where I could incorporate my passion for imagery with the ability to connect and make a difference within the minds and hearts of my audience; It wasn’t until I enrolled at Ball State when I realized that Graphic Design was the opportunity to do just that and so much more. Being able to help someone’s vision see the light of day is an infatuating feeling and power to have, so it’s no secret why I sought to join Intersection’s ranks, where I aspire to help others tell their stories alongside my teammates. When I’m not professionally doodling, I’m most likely tending to my succulents, drinking overly sweetened coffee or playing Animal Crossing.

SUMMER 2019

BONNIE PRINDLE

Word Nerd // Thrift Shopper // Struggling Plant Mom

I can still remember the first books that ever excited me: The Magic Tree House series. In third grade, I read every one of those books in my teacher’s classroom multiple times until she took it upon herself to expand my horizons and foster my lifelong love of reading. That love of reading soon evolved into a love of writing, and I’ve been following that passion ever since. I majored in creative writing at Ball State, and I was attracted to Intersection because I felt like I would be able to apply those creative skills I learned to a professional career. In my summer here at Intersection I’d like to spend my time becoming a better content writer, learning some basic design tools, and meeting great people. In my spare time, you can find me reading a great book or desperately trying to keep my plant babies, June and Ester, happy and healthy.

KATE HAMILTON

Pink Enthusiast // Avid Crafter // Butterfly Admirer

I often refer to myself as a tinker fairy, which sounds completely ridiculous to just about anyone who hasn’t seen any of the Tinker Bell movies. It brings me joy to fix and assemble things, and I am a problem solver—much like a tinker fairy. I think my love of problem solving is what drives me to design. Being able to fix and work through visual challenges is what keeps me coming back for more. I want to be the person others go to for help with working through their design challenges. This goal keeps me striving to create better work and to gain more experience to help people. I knew that Intersection would provide a place for me to grow and thrive as a designer. In my downtime, you can catch me baking all kinds of sweets and binging Netflix original series.

BRE DAUGHERTY

Caffeine Connoisseur // Passionate Learner // People Watcher

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to what kind of images were being used everywhere I went. When I was fifteen I began making my own photos, and ever since then I’ve been trying to capture images that draw people in the same way the photographs I love draw me in. This passion and interest is what originally led me to major in photojournalism. As time went on, I became more and more interested in how visual work is displayed in the ever-changing media space we call social media. This led me to earn my master’s degree in media analytics and management. I constantly want to learn how to make visuals better for people. I felt that at Intersection, I would have the opportunity to merge and attune these two interests by making visual content and determining how it will be displayed. When I’m not in the office, I’m more than likely at The Caffeinery enjoying some coffee and watching people live their everyday lives.

Jalynn Madison

storyteller // coffee junkie // jack of all trades

I read my first real novel in the fourth grade (The Baby-Sitters Club) and wrote my first short story (if you can call it that) a year after. During that time, I fell in love with the written word and I knew one day I wanted to be a bestselling author. Throughout middle and high school, I wanted to do be a journalist and decided to build up my writing and photography skills. It wasn’t until college that I fell in love with writing in a different way; writing for social media became my passion. I love the way social media connects people and encourages conversation; I realized that I wanted to create content that captured people’s attention and got them talking. Along the way, I picked up designing (InDesign is my program of choice), script writing for radio, a knack for creating content calendars, and an unhealthy obsession with my morning cup of coffee. If I had to describe my dream job, I’d tell you to think of the Wendy’s twitter account - I can only dream of being that savage.

Zoey Buck

Cat Mom // Color Connoisseur  // Foliage Feind

I started off my college career as a science major at LSU with dreams of being a surgeon. I had my first Chemistry class and soon realized that I didn’t want to be a doctor, I just wanted to be on Grey’s Anatomy.  One day, my mom said, “You’re good at drawing mandalas, why don’t you go to school for graphic design instead?” So now here I am, majoring in Visual Communications at Ball State, and loving it (I guess mom always does know best). I enjoy creating motion graphics and my biggest inspiration is Mike Perry. My goal in life is to be happy so I consider myself very lucky to be working in a field that allows me to have fun and be creative. When I am not nose deep in an Adobe program, I enjoy longboarding, rock climbing, and binge watching the newest Netflix Originals.

MELISSA JONES

Grammar Nerd // Pizza Lover // Adrenaline Junkie

I am a big reader, I love to practice yoga, and I also enjoy thrift shopping. I am driven by excitement and also by the ability to have creative freedom in my profession, which are a few of the reasons I was attracted to Intersection. I was drawn to advertising because of my grandfather, who owned his own advertising business. So, I guess you could say it is in my blood. Going forward, I would like to either stay in advertising and marketing, or I would like to venture into publishing. During my summer at Intersection I would like to improve my writing and design skills as it applies to advertising while also adulting properly. In my free time I like to binge-watch Netflix.

JOHNA WALLS

Typography Geek // Caffeine Addict // Color Enthusiast

I love to practice hand typography and use social media platforms to tell stories. I am excited to use my design skills to find solutions for clients that are both innovative and creative. I was attracted to Internsection because of the overall culture of the office and the people that work here. I would like to work as a designer at an advertising agency with a focus on digital design, including social media, web content, and marketing. While I am at Internsection, I would like to challenge myself creatively to become a better designer for the advertising industry and also explore further into social media planning and content creation. In my spare time, I love to explore new coffee shops and curate playlists on Spotify to capture any mood.

JAKE TURPIN

Dog Lover // Potato // “YOLO” Enthusiast

I am passionate about involving myself deeper in the Muncie community. I am driven by making money, but I also hope to create lasting relationships with the people that I work with in Muncie. When looking into interning at Internsection, I was drawn to it by the work environment and its campaign for downtown development. One of my main goals in life is to have a Wikipedia page dedicated to myself. During my time at Internsection, I hope to strengthen my skills, build relationships, and make new friends that I can carry into my professional life. When I am not working, I like to relax by grabbing a drink with my friends in downtown Muncie.

CAMERON TONER

Photographer & Cinematographer // Playing Card Designer // Magic Man

I love to use my photography and videos to tell meaningful stories that bring people together and create change in the world. Creating relationships with people is what drives me and led me to this opportunity. The energetic, creative, and fun atmosphere of Internsection was a big draw for me to want to intern over the summer. Beyond this summer, I would like to gain more experience in my field, further my base of knowledge, and make new friends that inspire me. During my time at Internsection, I hope to create amazing content while developing my photography and cinematography skills. In my down time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and doing anything that comes along.

DRAKE TURNER

Songwriter // Dedicated Learner // Sarcasm Savant

I am passionate about songwriting and performing live music for strangers and friends alike. I am motivated by the world I witness around me and try to use words to inspire people to create a better world. I was drawn to Internsection because I wanted to be involved with a company that would allow me to be creative while working closely with others to reach a client’s expectations. In the future, I'd like to create content for an advertising or marketing firm and continue my passion for songwriting. While at Internsection, I'd like to sharpen my skills as a copywriter and to learn new skills from the talented people around me. In my spare time, I enjoy having drinks and playing music with friends and skateboarding occasionally (my knees are not what they once were).

SPRING 2018

JESS HORD

design & branding nerd // lover of Thai food // crazy cat lady

The moment I touched the Adobe Suite, I knew I wanted to work in a field that embraces the growth of technology and implements it in new and interesting ways. I am constantly obsessing over selecting the perfect typeface, color palette, and aesthetic for the projects I am working on. My passion for emerging technology led me to the graphic design program at Ball State University, where I am finishing up my junior year. Intersection has created some of Muncie's best brands, and I hope to learn as much as possible about branding, graphic design, and whatever else I can get my hands on while interning here.

ERIN MORENO

avid adventurer // quidditch player // devoted wordsmith

I'm a graduate of the Ball State English Department as of this past December. I've always been passionate about using words to help the world and, thanks to my minors in creative writing and sociology, I've learned to understand and tell a variety of stories to a wide range of audiences. I've always been a bit of a wanderer, both in my professional and personal life. I'm definitely one for big ideas and grand plans, but I also love figuring out the small details and tightening the screws of an "Almost-there!" project. I thrive on new experiences, innovation, and learning all that I can. I'm most excited for my time here at Intersection because I'm very interested to learn about the different roles and paths in advertising and branding. When I'm not in a comfy chair in the Intersection office, I can usually be found playing quidditch (yes, it's a real sport), planning my next hiking trip, or trying to pet any dog whose owner will let me.

SUMMER 2016

ZACH POOR

creative perfectionist // self-proclaimed twitter celeb // mac & cheese connoisseur

When I was in Kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. Fast forward through those few awkward years when I haphazardly dreamed of a life as a chef, a teacher and even (gasp) a real estate agent, and I'm back to pursuing my original passion. I love design. I love the impact it can have on individuals and communities. I love the thrill I get from completing a project that can really make a difference. I love that I can have a "job" that never feels like "work." I am a senior at Ball State University studying advertising, marketing and design, and I just wanna make pretty things. But pretty things with a purpose. Pretty things that are innovative and can influence our world.

Hello! I come to you from Indianapolis, Indiana, and I’m a senior Visual Communication design major at Ball State University. Ever since I can remember, I found myself very intrigued by packaging and branding. This, accompanied with my passion for the fine arts, led me to become the graphic designer I am today. I am enthused to be a part of such a wonderful team here at Intersection this summer. I hope to learn more about the world of advertising, while bringing my creative approach to all that I do.

OLIVIA CALE

alliteration addict // extreme doodler // Food Network fanatic

Hi There! I’m a senior advertising major, marketing minor and I have a certificate in visual presentation at Ball State University. This is my fourth year with the American Advertising Federation student chapter, currently serving as Chapter President. I’ve been obsessed with my major since day one. I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I have found graphic design to be my bread and butter, but I also love the strategy development and research part of advertising. I guess you could say that they are my tall glass of OJ and a side of eggs. Can you tell I’m also an avid breakfast-goer? Aside from my major, I spend most of my free time watching Food Network and constantly sketching doodles on everything that is put in front of me. Through this internship, I hope to gain more experience in graphic design along with dabbling in media planning. I’m also looking forward to the mentors I will gain with the Intersection crew!

PAGE FETTER

introverted extrovert // everyday explorer // color enthusiast

My childhood hobby of art evolved into my love for graphic design. As a junior Art major at Ball State University concentrating in Visual Communications, with a minor in Graphic Arts Technology, I hope to immerse myself into the world of branding. I am the President of our campus chapter of the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA). As an organization, we brainstorm, design, print and package a technical journal to present at the annual TAGA conference. I’m enthusiastic to be a member of the Intersection team as a fall 2015 design intern. I hope to gain experience in advertising, communication and adapting to the agency lifestyle. I’m optimistic that I will be led into long-lasting relationships, critical learning and lots of afternoon tea.

I hail from Midland, Michigan. I am a senior advertising and marketing major at Northwood University. I have been an active member in the American Advertising Federation on campus and have competed in the National Student Advertising Competition for the past two years where I was both assistant and director of creative. I’ve been involved with Ball State American Advertising Federation for the last three years and work for the Ball State student-run agency, Adapt, as the Account Director. MAGGIE CLANCY

lover of sarcasm // professional people watcher // coffee addict

I 'm a junior at  Indiana University, and I am pursuing a degree in Marketing. I am so excited to intern at Intersection this summer and learn from the other bright minds that surround me. I love summer and the warm weather. I plan on spending as much time outside as possible and soaking it all in. I really enjoy dogs of all kinds, although I don't have one to call my own. Also, I thoroughly enjoy being adventurous with food. Want to try a new restaurant? I am so down (as long as you're okay with me documenting the experience with pictures). I am hoping to learn more about marketing and advertising and see where my strengths are in that area.

MICHAEL LUMPKIN

thrill seeker // grammar corrector // sports enthusiast

I just finished my first year as a Political Science major at Wabash College. I grew up around advertising and creative business and am excited for the opportunity to explore further! I enjoy the Wall Street Journal and physical activity of any sort. I am a Sports Editor for the Wabash College newspaper and a wide receiver on the football team. MADELINE DOUGLASS

artist // lover of cheesy films // cold weather hater

My name is Madeline Douglass. I’ve recently graduated from The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities on the campus of Ball State University. At the Academy, I learned important skills that I will use the rest of my life -- for example: procrastination, studying while distracted (hello, Netflix) and writing 8-page papers in four hours. I will be attending the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia starting in September of 2015. At SCAD I plan to study Film and Television and maybe minor in Production Design, though I have always loved advertising. I hope that my experience at Intersection will prepare me for a future in the creative field!
